Amelia Thompson was at the Ariana Grande Manchester U.K. concert in 2017 during the bombing. She was only 11-years-old at the time and was understandably “severely shaken up and unable to talk for days” after what happened.
She had tickets to attend Shawn’s concert on April 7th but didn’t quite feel ready to return to the location. However, she did go with support from a police officer who was also there on the night of the attacks.
When she got there, Amelia also got a big surprise – a chance to meet with Shawn himself. “It was really overwhelming and it felt so surreal but I really enjoyed it,” Amelia said of her experience with Shawn. “[He] was so nice to me and I’m a bit overwhelmed…I have new positive memories in there and they will definitely cancel out the negative ones.”
Amelia was just 11 when she was caught up in the Manchester Arena terror attack. She didn’t speak for days.
But the kindness of a former police officer helped her rediscover her love of music – with a little surprise from @ShawnMendes…
