Halsey opened up to Rolling Stone about her bipolar disorder, revealing she’s actually checked herself into treatment twice since she became famous.
In the interview, she explained that with bipolar disorder, she is never really sure of which version of herself she will be when she wakes up. Halsey said she has been in an “extended manic period that she knows won’t last forever.”
“I know I’m just going to get f-cking depressed and be boring again soon. And I hate that that’s a way of thinking. Every time I wake up and realize I’m back in a depressive episode, I’m bummed. I’m like, ‘F–k. F–k! This is where we’re going now? OK …’
Halsey says she is unafraid to talk about her mental issues nowadays and talked for the first time about being committed twice since becoming a celebrity.
“I’ve been committed twice since [I became] Halsey, and no one’s known about it. But I’m not ashamed of talking about it now.” “Being committed isn’t a problem,” she reasoned, adding that, “it’s a way of responsibly dealing with one. It’s been my choice.”
