Taylor Swift reached out to a young fan for spending the past few weeks of quarantine trying to cheer up postal workers.
Emerson Weber, an 11-year-old Swiftie from Sioux Falls, S.D., has been writing letters back and forth with mail carriers hard at work delivering mail across the U.S. It all started with Weber writing one letter to thank her own postman, and after it was shared in an internal U.S. Postal Service newsletter, mail began pouring in for the fifth grader, instantly creating a wide network of postal service pen pals around the country.
Emerson shared her love of Taylor’s music in her letters and when the news reached the superstar, she decided to send the 11-year-old a parcel of her own.
Her Dad tweeted the story of a care package from Taylor and it’s incredible.
The past couple days have been beyond our wildest dreams, but today was a fairytale. I’m not sure I can fully capture what we just experienced, but I’ll do my best.

I’ll admit. Our brains broke for a minute. We put the gift and the packaging back in the box. And, waited an hour.
No joke. Sometimes, you need to calm down.

Then, came the letter. Oh dear lord, this letter.
All four of us – including Finn – sat quietly & hung on every word as Emerson read the letter aloud.
Most of the letter is personal and between Em & Taylor. But a couple of details just for you…
She wrote, “Dearest Emerson…”

She saw in Emerson’s story “an innate sense of empathy, a curiosity about the feelings of strangers, and the drive to try to brighten someone’s day.” pic.twitter.com/gLJotHJCdS

Taylor included a couple of shirts in the box – in two different sizes to be certain that the fit was right.
Em found the shirts that worked for her, and… pic.twitter.com/UElT1I2EPk

From the bottom of our hearts! Hearts! I made it until the last tweet without a typo and just realized my mistake now.
Clearly Emerson and I are a lot alike and we’re both still working on our spelling. 😂
Have a great Wednesday everyone! ❤️
