Have you ever seen an account on Instagram that’s following only one person, or nobody at all? It’s such a great aesthetic, if you’re a brand or artist, because it establishes you as the trendsetter in the room. You follow *literally* no one.
But that wasn’t quite how it happened for Billie Eilish. If you find her on the ‘Gram now, you’ll see that she has a big, very aesthetic-looking 0 under her “Following” tab.
Just a few days ago, that wasn’t the case. Then, she posted a story about standing with victims of abuse, that read, “If I am following your abuser DM ME & I will unfollow them. I support you.”
From there, she received backlash online about following people such as Chris Brown, who’s been accused on multiple occasions of assault and domestic abuse.
It appears that Billie decided to make a statement and unfollow everybody, not just alleged abusers. Or perhaps she was making a statement that an abuser could be anybody? We don’t know for sure.
The one thing we do know: if you were hoping for the “Bad Guy” singer to give you a followback, you’d better not hold your breath. She also unfollowed everyone on Twitter!
