The one thing we know for sure about Kanye West is that we don’t really know anything for sure. The enigmatic rap mogul is one part talent, one part mystery, and a third part ambition. So when Ye announced his plans to run for President of the United States of America, it was hard to tell if he was serious.
He announced his campaign on July 4th – how fitting – with a tweet:
We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States 🇺🇸! #2020VISION
— ye (@kanyewest) July 5, 2020
Not long after, his wife, celebrity TV star Kim Kardashian, retweeted and added another American flag emoji. So is it a serious bid for the presidency? Insiders think so.
An anonymous source told US Weekly thank Kim K is 100% in support of her husband’s run, saying “Kanye has been planning this for years.”
When we put the details together, however, a legitimate attempt at becoming Commander-In-Chief doesn’t seem like a reasonable goal. Kanye’s already missed the filing deadline to be on the ballot in several states as an Independent candidate, and in case you’ve been living under a rock, the Democrat and Republican candidates have already been decided.
Three reasons why the Kanye West 2020 campaign is a pure publicity stunt:
1. The deadline for independent candidates to get on the general election ballot has passed in IN, NM, ME, NY and NC.
2. Florida’s filing deadline is in 10 days.
3. It’s *Kanye West*

Despite the unrealistic prospect of Kanye’s election, some people were on board:
