New Study Confirms: VA is the Most Quarantine-Stressed State

2020 is almost over, and all we have to look back on is the collective memory of Tiger King, toilet paper, and a whole lot of stress. How much of that anxiety is coming from being stuck at home more than usual? According to some new research, probably a lot more than you think.

And just as we personally suspected, we’ve got it the worst in the nation: Virginia was named the most stressed-out state, when it comes to our home surroundings. Here’s the Top 10, per the company that conducted the research, Modsy.

  1. Virginia

  2. Massachusetts

  3. Kansas

  4. South Carolina

  5. Utah

  6. New York

  7. Florida

  8. Colorado

  9. Georgia

  10. Tennessee

Another finding from the study was that when people decided to upgrade their home, in an effort to feel better about the place where they’re locked down, the number one item to buy was a new sofa. In total, 60% of respondents said that the pandemic made them realize how messy their living space really was! Sounds like a job for Marie Kondo.

Among non-parents, 77% of people polled also said that they did some kind of home improvement project during the summer. Turning words into action!

Here’s a tip, provided by the survey-makers, for people who are continuing to quarantine: invest in some nice art. After all, as they say, “If you have to look at it every day… make this space more personal and inspiring.”
