Zayn Malik Slams the Grammys, Says People Only Get Nominated If They ‘Shake Hands and Send Gifts’

The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, and now Zayn Malik have all slammed the Grammys ahead of Sunday’s broadcast of the award show.

Zayn took to Twitter to express his feelings saying, “F–k the grammys and everyone associated. Unless you shake hands and send gifts, there’s no nomination considerations. Next year I’ll send you a basket of confectionary.”

Zayn wasn’t eligible himself this year.  His latest album “Nobody Is Listening” came out this past January, five months after eligibility ended, and two months after the nominees were announced.

He went on to say, “My tweet was not personal or about eligibility but was about the need for inclusion and the lack of transparency of the nomination process and the space that creates and allows favoritism, racism, and netwokring [sic] politics to influence the voting process.”

After the Grammy nominations were announced The Weeknd tweeted, “You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency,” He called the show “corrupt” after he was completely shut out despite his hugely successful album After Hours, which topped multiple Billboard charts throughout the year.
