A huge congratulations is in order for Cardi B! She just became the first female rapper to reach diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) – specifically, “Bodak Yellow,” her breakout hit from 2017! A song is certified diamond when it “moves 10 million units,” including streams, sales, and video views.
If you remember, back then she burst on to the scene with lyrics about red bottoms and how she’s always making money moves, but nobody could have predicted just how far that song would take her!

Flash forward almost four years later, and Cardi’s in good company. “Bodak Yellow” was the 18th-fastest song to reach diamond status, putting it among the ranks of Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, The Weeknd, and more.

It’s worth mentioning that while Cardi became the first female rapper to score a diamond song, she’s the second female rapper to ever receive a diamond plaque: Lauryn Hill got one for album sales, back in the day!
💎 | Cardi B now joins legendary Lauryn Hill to be only female rappers in HISTORY to receive an RIAA Diamond plaque for selling over 10 MILLION units of the single or album in the US.
