Lizzo wants fans to stay six feet away from her until the number of Covid-19 cases goes back down.
The rapidly spreading delta variant is said to have led to a 170 percent increase in COVID cases in the last two weeks.
Speaking to fans on Instagram Live, Lizzo asked fans to please keep their distance.
“Hey, this is a public service announcement, I’m just putting this out here right now,” she said in a video on her Instagram. “I don’t care who you are—you could be the nicest person, you could be vaccinated, you could be quadruple vaccinated. If you see me, please give me six feet. This shit is coming back, COVID, and people are being real sloppy with personal space.”
Lizzo continued, “It’s not you! It’s me….I’m not trying to catch nothing. I don’t even want to catch feelings b*tch, you think I’m trying to catch Covid?”
“At this point, I’m going to be slightly rude about it,” she said. “Don’t think, ‘Oh she’s a celebrity, she thinks she’s all that.’ It’s not that, boo-boo. You know what I think I am? Healthy. You know what I think I am? COVID-free. You know what I think I am? Full of vitamin D and vitamin C. You know what I think I am? Safe for my friends and family to be around, and my coworkers and teammates. That’s who I think I am.”
She asked fans to give her space if they see her on the street. After sharing that the virus got ‘way too close’ she warned fans ‘I’m gonna be mean.’
“We can have a whole moment from six feet away,” she said. “Show me love from six feet away. I’m not being rude, I’m trying to protect my mother. I’m trying to protect my team.”
The singer told fans: “I love you all…stay safe my friends.”
