It ain’t cheap, owning a home. Especially in the (757), where, according to a new report, we overpay by a ridiculous amount for one specific bill.

Data from Commodity.com finds that among America’s 250 biggest metro areas, Norfolk/Virginia Beach/Newport News ends up paying the USA’s 14th-highest electric bills. For context, Hampton Roads is typically considered the 45th-largest media market… so we’re punching well above our weight.


They say the average cost in Hampton Roads can be as much as $150/month, taking up a full 10.7% of total housing costs for homeowners!
