Actress and singer Keke Palmer surprised Chesapeake native Reggie Lewis Halsey Jr. with some BIG news.

Halsey Jr. was the grand prize winner of McCormick Spice’s “America’s Got Tacos” song contest!  The contest called for contestants to create an original jingle showcasing their love of all things tacos for a chance to win $50,000, a year’s supply of McCormick Original Taco Seasoning, and be featured on our social channels.

Palmer, star of movies like “Nope” and “Akeelah and the Bee,” served as a judge for the contest and selected the winner.

Halsey Jr., a father of three from Chesapeake, won $50,000 and says he will use the money to send his oldest daughter to college.

He told McCormick Spices his catchy song was inspired by his family’s love of Taco Tuesdays, “I was instantly inspired to create a unique song that expressed my love for McCormick Original Taco Seasoning and our family’s weekly taco night. McCormick has always been a staple in our household, especially when it comes to spending time with my children.”
